A Pantone Colour for All Walks of Life
The Pantone Color Institute recently announced its 2020 Color of the Year – Pantone 19-4052 Classic Blue. Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute described this hue to Time magazine stating “It’s a reassuring blue, full of calm and confidence. It builds connection.”
Many people would never have the courage to use this blue or any blue for that matter in their home, but blue has been a color of choice for a long time. The Pantone Color of the Year began 20 years ago and that year the chosen color was Cerulean and was huge for home décor and high fashion. As Time suggested, “…for reference, one might consider Meryl Streep’s character Miranda Priestly’s monologue in the movie The Devil Wears Prada, where she breaks down how the color dominated a global industry.”
A Pantone Colour That’s Natural & Timeless
Many of us can relate more to Anne Hathaway’s character Andrea Sachs and can’t see the difference between the blue colors of the two belts because, well, blue is blue right? Regardless, being a color aficionado is not required when it comes to planning for your new space or freshening up an old space. That’s why there are experts in color hoping to inspire you. Still sitting on the fence about blue? For a little more encouragement, here is Pantone’s take on this classic blue “the color seems especially fitting for this moment in time; the hue is both genderless and seasonless, making it both accessible and desirable, for people in all walks of life. Additionally, its indigo shade can be achieved naturally from plants and dyes, making it a color that aligns well with the sustainability movement.” Did any of that send you running to your nearest paint store as inspiration knocked you off your feet? If not don’t stress about it. You can gather inspiration for colours from anywhere. Even if you end up choosing a soft neutral shade it’s your neutral shade and if you just can’t bear the thought of any color, you really can’t go wrong with white. It’s your choice for your home. Sometimes inspiration can just come from the heart.
